Oatmeal

All of it started with the baby oatmeal this morning...
I made it a little bit too watery but I was determined to use it for Jeru. So I take it over to her to start feeding her and she takes a few bites and then decides to play with the bowl and I try to prevent the watery oatmeal from spilling over from her playing with it. Well you guessed it... by us doing differing things with the bowl we made it flip off of the high chair tray and onto the floor with a big splat and watery oatmeal goes up the bathroom door that is right next to our dining room! I think wow what a morning! So I leave the bowl down on the floor a few minutes and proceed to feed her some mushy apples.

Everything is fine until I hear water gushing! Yes, gushing! Our washer from time to time decides to not let the water go out of the pipe when it is leaving the washer because I guess the pipe gets frozen in the winter. I think one time when I washed one of Simba’s blankets in the washer a piece or something came out and went into the pipe because ever since then we have been having this gushing problem at various times! So I run to the washer and stop it and see that a lot of water has gotten onto the floor... I just leave it and go back to feeding Jeru. She is just watching all of my antics with an open mouth. :)

So I say a little prayer and thank the Lord for the morning before I let it ruin it and just have to find humor in all of this. Thought I would just share it with you. I don’t know if anyone is reading this blog but I guess it is just a good journaling outlet for me. :) Have a blessed day...

God is good through it all and I must thank him for the washer that we have to wash clothes... in Kenya they spend about all morning just washing their clothes by hand. Thank you Lord for the food that I generously get to eat and feed Jeru and the family with because David told me in Kenya there were some families that they met during the missions trip that only eat once or twice a week! This keeps coming back to me and makes me want to do something about it! What step can I take dear Lord. I thank you for being my Father and friend Lord... guide me throughout the day to be purposeful and joyful!

Feeling pretty blessed.

Being a Team Player

US... Fall 2007
Why is it so hard for me to be a team player at times? Why do I have to have my way or the highway? What is up with me competing with David and trying to show that I am better than him?

These are not the qualities of a good wife or a good person for that matter. I have to learn to be more flexible and understand that David is the leader in our family. Even if I think David is wrong about something I need to patiently listen, try it his way, be a supportive encourager so that our life runs more smoothly.

I am sorry Lord for the way that I have treated my husband and have not respected his decisions at times and have questioned him so much. Show me how to be a wife who encourages and works with David as a team. We are constantly signing e-mails or letter with Team Cheromei but I have not been practicing that lately. Show me how to get back to my soccer side... how we worked together as a team to reach a common goal... each player is vital to that goal and if you try to play by yourself than it gets harder and more difficult to reach that goal. I don’t know what is holding me back from being a team player but Lord please show me and help me to rid of it so that I can allow David to be Team Captain and call the shots in our family. Thank you Lord for our family and how you have blessed us so abundantly. You have given me such a man who has a heart to serve you and a sweet daughter to train. Help me to embrace who you have purposed me to be without holding anything back. I want to live this life according to your will and this just to not be words but to put it into practice! Amen!

Back Together Again!

Thank you Lord for bringing our little family back together again! David was gone for 10 days on a missions trip to Kenya but in the end it felt like he was gone for a whole month! Jeru and I headed down to warmer weather while he was gone and left the 6 inches of snow at home! We headed to my parents and had a ball... Jeru learned to roll over both ways and loves to scoot to get what she wants. I love seeing her grow and develop! What a relaxing and fulfilling time.

Jeru and I were not disappointed and we had some great days with warmer weather and the beautiful sun shining where we could actually go out in my parents backyard and hang out without getting our faces frozen in place.

I was so glad to be able to have an extended amount of time with my parents instead of just a weekend like we have been having for the past few months. It has been a blessing to see them every month since Lily has been born. She is now 6 months old and she has been able to meet so much of the family on my side so far. I can’t wait for her to meet her family in Kenya! Man do I wish we could have gone to Kenya in a way because I feel like I have missed so much of what David experienced while there but it is the Lord’s will.
